A fishing trip helped create a “Magical Night” in Mpls, MN at the annual Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Gala and Auction held in the end of November.

Bidding was fast and furious on the fishing trip for twelve which was to be guided by 3 local Mpls area fishing gurus who came with a reputation of “they can catch the big ones.” When the bidding was done the trip “Sold” for an amazing and record setting $120,000!! Several other live auction items, including a black lab puppy for $16,000, helped raised over $800,000 plus for the annual event.

Cary M. Aasness was the fundraiser auctioneer and worked with and alongside Master of Ceremony Don Shelby. Shelby, very well known not only in the Minneapolis metro but also outside the confines of Minnesota, is an iconic and now retired WCCO-TV Mpls broadcaster as well as twice Pulitzer Prize winner in broadcasting.

Cary commented it was a lot of fun to work alongside Don; a big thanks to him, the Mortenson Construction Group, the director and staff of the foundation and the many in attendance! They truly are the best and so believe in the cause to find a Cure! The bidding was tremendous with great participation; it indeed was a magical night!!
